Dear Dr. Tim Kerns:
I am writing to express my strong interest in the Summer 2019 internship Maryland Highway Safety
Office. I am currently a senior at Towson University and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in
Health Science. My goal upon graduation is to work in the field of health issues, and I feel that the skills I
have developed suit me for the internships offered by Saint Agnes.
In terms of computer skills, I am proficient with all the Windows programs mentioned in the position
description (Word, PowerPoint and Excel). At Towson University, in the Instructional methods in health
education course, I learned how to maintain health education construction and budget data in Excel.
I wrote grants in Word and provided presentations in PowerPoint. I regularly use the Adobe Creative
Suite (Photoshop, In design, Flash Illustrator, After Effects, and Premiere) to create flyers and brochures
for advertising, marketing and web materials.
At UMBC, I had the opportunity to learn several valuable skills in the risk management processes and
analysis course, where I have experienced and learned to control risk in the assigned territory through
analysis of data from aggregate claim reports, individual claim analysis, on-site risk assessment
activities and other internal and external sources. This experience would help assess and determine
how best to mitigate each of these threats through a careful and well-developed risk management
process.
I am passionate about health issues and I look forward to contributing to the important work and
making an impact at Maryland Highway Safety Office. I have attached a resume, and look forward to
hearing from you and further discussing this great opportunity. Thank you for considering my
application, your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Abdullah Alyami
