Company of Choice
Introduction
Working at a multinational firm with a positive corporate culture for employees is
one of the best things that can happen to someone after their graduation. I believe that
upon my graduation I would like to work in a company that embraces diversity in its
workplace and provides the opportunity for the employee to interact with people from
different socioeconomic, cultural as well as political background. As such, my ideal
employer should be a firm that encourages good corporate citizenship initiatives by
providing support to communities and giving back to society (Schaeffer, 2014). The
company that I would like to work for upon graduation is HubSpot which is rated as one
of the firms with the best workplace culture in 2019 (Bastone, 2018). Imperatively, this
paper provides background information about HubSpot and the requirements for a
marketing position that I would apply for at the organization. In the last part, the paper
addresses what I might need to do to meet the requirements before making the
application.
Background Information about HubSpot Inc
HubSpot is a company that was established in 2006 by Brian Halligan and
Dharmesh Shah at MIT. With its headquarters in Cambridge Massachusetts, the firm
develops and markets software products in inbound marketing (HubSpot Inc., 2019).
The firm’s products focus on providing tools that allow the company to carry out
marketing on their social media, manage content, and optimization of search engines as
well as for analytics associated with the web. HubSpot has over 2500 employees in

eight global offices and provides services to over 56,000 global customers in over 100
countries.
From its humble start with the aim of changing inbound marketing for
organizations, HubSpot has grown in equity and total assets with revenue of over $
500million in 2018. HubSpot grew its revenue to over $15 million within the first three
years of its operations and went on to acquire Oneforty Inc. The company has grown
through acquisitions and organically to attain its current position not just in inbound
marketing but also for developing products that meet consumer needs in its market. In
2014, HubSpot requested for an initial public offering so that they can be listed on the
stock market (NSE). HubSpot bought Kemvi that uses artificial intelligence and machine
learning to assist firms to attain their sales targets in 2017.
The technology firm offers different services and software in different areas. The
firm offers tools to help companies carry out social marketing, manage their content,
and optimize their search engines. The firm also provides third-party services like
extensions and templates as well as consulting services and online resources that allow
sales teams to learn more about inbound marketing strategies and tactics (Schaeffer,
2014). The organization also hosts conferences for user groups and marketing as well
as certification programs. The firm uses its marketing channels to promote the concept
of inbound marketing as it creates content like blogs, social, white papers, and webinars
(HubSpot Inc., 2019). As such, HubSpot is considered to be a content creator for
organizations and its processes for better inbound marketing services and software
delivery.

With a mission of helping others to grow as the best way to attain growth, the firm
believes that businesses should grow with a conscience and attain success with a soul.
As such, the company believes that by creating a platform that unites software,
education, and community to assist enterprises to grow better, then it attains its inbound
marketing goals.
Job Requirements
For fresh graduates, many believe in sticking with the traditional career paths like
financial services, law, banking, and marketing. However, after reading how a career in
sales at HubSpot can be the best and right choice for recent graduates, I believe that I
would apply for a sales representative at the organization based on my capabilities.
Therefore, selling is an art that occurs every day in life but because of misconception
and misunderstanding, many graduates do not believe that they can develop a career in
sales. Based on the information on the firm’s website, a sales representative is
expected to apply their inbound selling strategies to get new business and assist the
enterprises to grow using software developed by the organizations (Huang, 2016).
The position needs possession of excellent communication skills and capabilities,
accuracy in forecasting, and pipeline management. The position also requires one to be
a high performer with a sharp focus on attaining their goals and a robust approach in
attaining them. The candidate is also expected to have a fast grasp of challenges that
customers face and discover the most effective ways that inbound marketing solutions
are at disposal. The position also requires the applicants to nurture relationships that
focus on identifying opportunities in small and mid-sized companies.

Meeting these requirements
As such, meeting these requirements implies that I must nurture a culture that
values diversity, teamwork and always being ready to learn. Secondly, I must ensure
that I make the requisite application and be ready to invest in success, change my
conception about working at the organization; especially developing solutions that assist
businesses and allow the HubSpot to grow. The mission of the organization is to help
businesses become better entities in their operations; especially in their inbound
marketing.
